Chartered Accountant Danielle Thorkelsson was attracted to Pitbull by Sami Hayek’s energy. “He doesn’t accept ‘no’ as an answer,” says Thorkelsson. “That makes me want to rise to the challenge to find a solution — I like that.” No surprise there. Thorkelsson appears to be gifted with sustainable energy herself.
Danielle received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1997 and has spent the last 15+ years in the accounting field. After finishing her accounting articles at KPMG in 2000, Danielle moved to industry where she worked as a controller for Waiward Steel Fabricators Ltd., a large steel fabrication company supplying primarily the oilsands and other large industrial customers. Following that Danielle went to work for Liquor Stores Income Fund, a publicly traded retail company, as finance manager. Danielle’s last three years have been spent consulting with small to medium sized businesses in a variety of industries in the areas of financial management and growth. Outside of work, Danielle is an enthusiastic community volunteer as president of Summerside Community League, soccer coach and other volunteer positions. “It’s important to give back,” she says. “I love working with my fellow volunteers and building new connections.”
